At RAK, we’re more than just a place to unwind, we’re a community hub where good times meet good deeds. Through engaging events, specialty drinks, interactive games, and unique culinary dishes, we create an atmosphere where friends and neighbors, whether local or from out of town, come together to connect, relax, and give back. Our commitment to Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) is at the heart of everything we do, fostering a spirit of generosity and support that strengthens the Frederick community and beyond. Owners

As owners of RAK Brewing, the breweries' name was inspired by Joe & Troyce Gatewood's philanthropic spirit. Together, they have devoted their time to supporting the community through various charitable causes, projects, and businesses. Joe wears multiple hats as he is also the managing partner of TGP Homes, a local real estate team, and TGP Gives, a nonprofit committed to bettering the community through acts of kindness and generosity. Troyce owns TGP Homes, a 100% woman owned business, where she has helped many women achieve financial goals that have enhanced their lifestyles beyond their imagination. With a passion for their business and giving back, Joe and Troyce Gatewood exemplify modern entrepreneurship with a vision beyond profit.

Steve is a Downtown resident who believes strongly in the community. Owning a downtown business has always been a goal for Steve. His love for breweries has allowed RAK Brewing Co. to be the perfect opportunity. Steve is also a hyperlocal Downtown Real Estate Agent, photographer at downtown.frederick.capture, and has many active roles within local organizations that support the Frederick area.

Originally from Germantown, MD, Branden Roth is a graduate of Seneca Valley High School and the University of Maryland. After relocating to Frederick in 2015, Branden began his brewing journey in 2018, with experiences at renowned local breweries such as Flying Dog and Sapwood Cellars. When he's not crafting beers, Branden enjoys spending quality time with his daughter, Nora, and indulging in outdoor activities like fishing and camping.

David grew up not far away in Carroll County, Maryland and has been around the city of Frederick his whole life. He got his start in the industry in 2018 at Flying Dog Brewery where he started his journey in the industry and obtained a vast knowledge in packaging and brewing beer. After a brief stint stepping away from the industry and working at Tipco Technologies, David decided to return to brewing to team up with head brewer Branden Roth to help cultivate the diverse beer selection offered at RAK Brewing Company. When not working with great beer, David enjoys drinking great beer with friends and family, listening to music, and watching sports.

Lewis Reed grew up in Washington County, Maryland, and has spent the last ten years working in the alcohol industry. He's gained hands-on experience in making wine, cider, and beer. Outside of work, you'll find him enjoying the outdoors, skateboarding around, and pursuing his artistic interests.

Meet Stephanie, the Director of Events and a proud brand ambassador for RAK Brewing Company. She graduated from Mount St. Mary's University with a degree in accounting and spent 20 years leading teams in the finance industry. But now, she's channeling her passion for the beer industry, using her leadership skills and attention to detail to create unforgettable event experiences for our customers. As a brand ambassador, she loves sharing RAK's story and connecting with the community. When she's not at RAK Brewing Co, she's always on the hunt for new cities and immersing herself in brewery culture. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and exploring the great outdoors.
Meet Alexander, the Director of Marketing and a proud brand ambassador for RAK Brewing Company. He graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a degree in Illustration and spent the last 10 years developing systems and processes for various brands and non-profits. Now, he channels his passion for the beer industry to create unforgettable marketing campaigns. As a brand ambassador, he shares RAK’s story and connects with the community. Outside of work, he seeks new ideas and immerses himself in the vibrant brewery culture. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, fishing, hiking, and exploring local events.
